Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway, looking for a fun date idea, or simply searching for something different to do close to home, fall is one of the best times to explore the Piedmont and surrounding areas of North Carolina.

🍎 1. Sip the Flavors of Fall at Weathervane Winery

Located in the Welcome community near Lexington, North Carolina, Weathervane Winery is a relaxed place to spend an afternoon enjoying locally made wine, beautiful surroundings, and good company.

Green Apple Dew
Our seasonal Green Apple Riesling is crisp, refreshing and perfect for those first cooler days of fall.

Think fall fair in a bottle! County Fair combines Green Apple Riesling with a delicious caramel kick.

Both wines are seasonal and available while supplies last, so don't wait too long to grab a bottle—or a few to enjoy later in the season.

🍷 2. Plan a North Carolina Wine-Tasting Day

You don't have to travel across the country to enjoy wine country.

North Carolina is home to an incredible wine industry, and the Piedmont is filled with wineries that make it easy to create your own wine-tasting adventure.

Pick two or three wineries, check their tasting room hours before you leave, and make a day of it. Give yourself plenty of time at each stop so you can enjoy the experience rather than rushing from one winery to the next.

And remember: you don't have to be a wine expert to go wine tasting. Ask questions, try something new and drink what you like!

One of the best fall activities in North Carolina is also one of the simplest—get in the car and explore.

As the leaves begin to change, take the back roads instead of the highway. The rolling countryside throughout the Piedmont can be beautiful during the fall months.
