Some say that Noah was the first wine maker, others claim that
the old Persians were at it thousands of years earlier.
The fact is that people have been making wine by hand for centuries.
Sid Proctor is no Noah and as far as we can tell he's not Persian either, but he has developed some beautiful wines for the North Carolina market. Each of his wines gets his personal attention. They are all hand made and nothing is mass produced, assuring the best taste possible in each bottle.
Back in 2004 Sid made his first batch of wine. Man oh man, was it ever some awful stuff! But as soon as his toes straightened out again and his vision came back, he gave it another try, this time with a little help and advice from a friend.
No-one knows exactly how many tries it took, but one day he showed up with a nice sweet wine of magnificent taste and color.
Even today his first real wine Sweet Mountain Bliss is a favorite of many who come to our tasting room.
Many good wines followed and the first few years Sid and Miranda managed to run the winery and tasting room from their home. But they knew they had to expand or find a new location soon and in 2008 they opened the winery and tasting room in Welcome in the picture at the top of this page.
Come in for a visit and check out the wines, our tasting room atmosphere and our friendly staff.
